About Denzil Lee

Denzil has a Degree in Applied Economics from the University of Wales and spent the early part of his career in sales and marketing within the fmcg sector. He was Marketing Director of Colgate subsidiaries in the UK and overseas including Terry’s of York and Colgate Spain and boasts of many new product and brand achievements.

He has been CEO of Wilkinson Sword with responsibilities in the UK and overseas including Japan, Pakistan, India, Thailand and the Philippines. He first became involved with private equity in 1990 when he led the successful MBO of Maclaren. Over his 18 years experience in venture capital backed companies he has held CEO/Chairman positions with companies in the portfolios of Bridgepoint Capital, Barclays Ventures and Octopus Ventures and has worked on projects with numerous other VC’s and carried out pre deal due diligence for Banks. He has participated in MBO, MBI and BIMBO deals most of which have been turnarounds and in which he has always taken full hands on roles.

His category experience is wide and comprehensive demonstrating flexible and portable business skills. In turnaround scenarios this is a great asset in that one can draw from experiences from a wide range of situations and sectors and sometimes apply new approaches to the key issues.

He is a former chair of the Baby Products Association, has been Northamptonshire Businessman of the Year, a Winner of the BVCA Turnaround Award and a full member of the Institute for Turnaround.
