Initially, Mike operated at a senior level in the accountancy profession, culminating with an international a Chartered Accountancy firm, specialising in the owner-managed and private equity backed sectors. This was followed by a move into the private sector to join a growing family owned company as Finance Director. Over a three year period, working with the management team, Mike was instrumental in growing the business from a turnover of £1.5m to £16m. Mike was a major party in the negotiation, due diligence and completion of a sale of the business to a large group backed by Bridgepoint Capital.
Mike’s business experience whilst founded on his accountancy background is now extremely wide due to his time in operating companies. As well as being well versed in all aspects of the Finance Director role he has hands on knowledge in the process of turning around a business that had been experiencing heavy losses and returning it to profit He has a great depth of experience in dealing with bankers, private equity houses, in house investors and other business investors.
Mike’s knowledge also extends to the implementation of both accounting and other information systems, to help in the rescue or growth of businesses, He still holds a number non-executive roles in businesses that he has worked with for over 20 years.
